Fuel delivery and fuel management are some of the most critical safety systems in automotive and heavy equipment manufacturing. Serious injury or death can occur should there be a leak. Some common fuel testing applications include gas caps, filler tubes, vent tubes, fuel tanks, roll-over valves, intake manifolds, and fuel rails. These components not only need to be leak free of diesel or gasoline but also Hydrocarbons as well. These leak-free requirements demand some of the most sensitive leak testing equipment available.
LeakMaster is trusted by virtually every major automotive manufacturer to provide leak test instruments for fuel system applications. Our ability to quickly and repeatably leak test fuel systems is an example of the power and versatility of LeakMaster’s Air Leak Detection Equipment.

LeakMaster offers all air leak testing technologies, including
Pressure Decay, Differential Pressure and Mass Flow. Each method has its own advantages and limitations. By a large margin, most fuel delivery applications utilize the differential pressure method due to its ability to detect small, microscopic leaks down to a few microns or sub 1 sccm leak rates.
The fuel pipe assemblies shown below are tested to a 15-micron fuel leak rate using the differential pressure decay leak test method. Testing to this standard ensures that the fuel system will not release significant amounts of hydrocarbons or leak fuel. Other leak testing technologies are also frequently used including Vacuum Decay and Mass Flow leak testing.
